Try one of the many beginner friendly XC events around Victoria. Many races have different distances you can choose to race, making them accessible and a fun experience for all. Fast and Female Lake Mountain
A fun, exciting event aimed at younger girls aged between 8 and 19, and women of any skiing ability. Girls will be grouped according to age and level of experience. An opportunity to gain some ski tips and insights from the professionals! Being a girl who loves sport is cooler than you think!
Lake Mountain Sunday 24 June More InfoSnow Trek and Travel Mini Series 1
An opportunity for kids to participate in racing at Falls Creek. Kids as young as 2 and as old as 19 years can race over distances ranging from 0.5km to 2.5km. The first race of the series (snow permitting) is using Classic technique. Immediately following the Mini Series there is an opportunity to try biathlon in the bowl (extra cost of $5 per child). Try shooting the laser rifles and participate in some fun races. Lots of spot prizes from the main sponsor Snow Trek & Travel and most importantly fun for all!
Falls Creek Sunday 24 June More InfoBirkebeiner Classic
Come and experience the best of classic skiing racing at Falls Creek. There are three different distances - 10km / 5km / 2.5km. Beginners and kids are encouraged to enter the 2.5km race. Enjoy a taste of classic skiing racing just as the Scandinavians do! Register for the event before 9am at Windy Corner Day Shelter.

Come and participate in a distance event see how you rate against other juniors in the the state. Distances vary on age and range from 2.5km, 5km and 10 km.

Falls Creek Sunday 5 August More InfoJoey Hoppet
Are you eager to challenge yourself? If you answered yes, the Joey Hoppet is the race for you. Join hundreds of other keen skiers doing the 7km course out Sun Valley and back through the finish line. Junior skiers get a chance to win a scholarship from AGL for $500 for the first male and female under 18 and under 14. Enjoy the post race celebrations in the Falls Creek Nordic Bowl. A great finale to Australia’s snow season.

Paddy Pallin Junior
An amazing opportunity for kids to participate in their first XC ski event at Perisher. Kids as young as 2 and as old as 16 years can participate freestyle (any style) over distances ranging from 0.5km to 2.5km. Festivities continue after a free hot dog lunch with the on snow and ski jelly snake hunt! Lots of spot prizes, yummy food and most importantly fun for all! Entries and lunch are free on the day.
Perisher Saturday 30 June More InfoCome and Try XC Skiing Open Day 1
Ever wanted to try Cross Country Skiing or learn new techniques and skills? Well here is a great opportunity to give it a go. Come along and learn the techniques used for cross country skiing by skilled professionals with a two hour lesson followed by a BBQ lunch, and a tour of the trails in the afternoon. Participants will need to bring their own cross country equipment.

This junior event combines cross country and alpine disciplines into one event. The cross country race is a classic race and is open to all juniors. Entrants under 16 years of age and completing the 3km course can compete for the Paddy Pallin Junior Cross Country Shield.

Do you want plenty of skiing, fresh air and fun for a whole week? Try Perisher XC Ski Week. Not just a series of individual events but now one big event. XC Ski Week is a week that caters for all levels of skiers whether you take part in the events or be a part of the cheering crowd. If you feel like racing, it is purely up to yourself as to how fast or slow you want to go. All participants are cheered on and skiers new to each event are especially welcome. Events include racing, Mystery Coffee Tours, try Laser Biathlon, Fast & Female (girls only!), demonstrations and waxing clinics, plus all the free skiing that you can handle.
Perisher Saturday 4 August More InfoKAC X-C Classic
The KAC race is a key race in the Perisher race calendar and part of Perisher XC Ski Week. The race is from Perisher Valley to Charlotte Pass Village, approximately 8 km. The classic skiers start first, followed 15 minutes later on the same course, by the freestyle skiers. Skiers must nominate on the entry form which style they wish to enter. Immediately following the race there will be a party in Charlotte Pass village. There will be free food, drink and spot prizes in conjunction with the prize giving. Come and enjoy!

The Snowy Mountains Classic is run where possible off the main trails and takes in beautiful natural terrain in some of the most scenic parts of the snowy mountains. It is one of the highlights the Cross Country Ski Week with this being the final event of the week. This freestyle race caters for all levels of skiers with distances ranging from 2.5, 7.5, 15 and 30 km.
